Five artists from the Arts Groups "Feed" received a 2 months prison sentence and fines of 5000 Sudanese Pounds (each) for a crime of "Public disturbance and breach of public safety".
Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamduk has issued a decision today relieving Mr. Abbas Fadlallah Ali El-Shiekh from the post of Commissioner General of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC)
Following a series of roundtables convened on Institutional Legal reforms and one-on-one advocacy meetings held with government and other stakeholders, the government (Ministry of Labor and Social Development) formed a committee to develop a road map for the HAC and Law reform process and oversee its implementation .
A seven-page report on a survey conducted by an informal group called the “Sudanese Civil Society Movement” was released today. This short survey carried out between 22 – 29 July was to solicit views on the Legal and institutional reforms of the Sudan Voluntary and Humanitarian Works Act of 2006 and the extent to which people know about efforts of the government on this front.
This report provides an overview of some of the major developments and events (national, regional and international) that have influenced and impacted the observable course of civic space in Sudan during the period April – June 2020.
The report is based on a review and analysis of the news alerts published on the “Sudan Civic Space Monitor” as well as analysis provided by Sudanese civil society experts and practitioners from different backgrounds and areas of expertise.
