Army intent on taking legal action against activists

Sudan's military issued a press release in which it indicated it would be proceeding with legal action against activists and journalists who have “insulted” the military.

The press release stated that in May 2020, the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudan Armed Forces appointed a commissioner specialized in information crimes to monitor and take legal measures against any allegations and abuses made against the Sudan Armed Forces. The statement indicted that the Commissioner identified several allegations and abuses made against he armed forces and in accordance with the laws (Criminal Law, Crimes against the State, the Press and Publications act, and Sudan’s Cybercrime Law of 2007)) had opened cases with the relevant bodies against those making the false allegations.
