Human Rights Council adopts Resolution A/HRC/S-32/L on Sudan
At the 32nd special session of the Human Rights Council on the human rights implications of the ongoing situation in the Sudan, the Council adopted Resolution A/HRC/S-32/L.1 in which it condemned in the strongest possible terms the military takeover on 25 October 2021 by the Sudanese military against the Transitional Government and called for the immediate restoration of the civilian-led Transitional Government.
In the resolution the Council requested the High Commissioner for Human Rights to designate without delay an Expert on Human Rights in Sudan to monitor the developing human rights situation until the restoration of its civilian-led government.
Russia, China and Venezuela disassociated themselves from the consensus on the resolution.
