Activist goes on hunger strike, sister calls on authorities to consider his health condition

According to a news item appeared on Bajnews website, community activist Mr. Nazim Siraj, went on hunger strike as of Friday 15 March from within his detention cell to protest his legally unfounded detention and because of being barred from exercising his rights.

Nazim’s sister, speaking to Bajnews confirmed what was circulated by social media activists that her brother went on hunger strike. “We have received information from reliable sources confirming that Nazim decided to go on an open-ended hunger strike until he is put on fair trial or released,” Nazim’s sister told Bajnews.

Nazim, director of El Nifeidi Charity Organization, is a long time voluntary work activist, he also served as executive officer of Sadaqat Organization, and his focus during the recent protests has been on the condition of the injured and killed protesters, his FaceBook page has been an important source of information for activists. He was detained on 31st of January from Al Saha hospital.
