Law and Development Party leader detained by Military Intelligence
Hardline Islamist leader Mohamed Ali al-Gizouli of the far-right Law and Development Party, was detained by Sudan Military Intelligence on Tuesday according to a statement issued by the Party.
According to the statement, the arrest of the party leader is part of a concerted effort by the government authorities to silence and block freedom of expression and came ahead of plans by the Party to organize protests rejecting certain legal reforms being made by the Ministry of Justice, and that ran contrary to Islamic Sharia’a Law.
