Employee of the “Saving& Social Development Bank” protest
Employee of the “Saving & Social Development Bank” in Khartoum organized a protest against the retaliatory transfers to employees that have participated in the civil disobedience that took place during the past month. The employees have demanded the immediate resignation of the CEO of the bank whom is linked to the previous regime, among other demands. The democratic lawyers coalition whom are a part of the Sudanese Professional Association, have participated in the protest and have engaged in negotiations with human resources department of the bank, stating the demands of the employees and have threatened to escalate the issue into a law suit.
These practices are viewed as a clear violation of the rights of the employees to participate in a civil disobedience movement, which is a form of expression and they have the freedom to express themselves. A right ensured to them through the interim constitution of Sudan 2005.
