The decision came on the recommendation of the Minister of Labor and Social Development to relieve the Commissioner of his duties and appoint in his place a new commissioner - Dr. Ahmed Bashir Ibrahim. The replacement of the Commissioner General of HAC comes during a time when the country is suffering one of the worst flooding seasons in its history. and which have left over a hundred people dead and tens of thousands homeless. The outgoing HAC Commissioner was also overseeing the reform of the Commission and the SVHWA which governs the work of civil society in the country.
