Imam of Al Nuhud mosque, Sheikh Adam Abboud, was prohibited from delivering his Friday congregational prayer sermon because of criticizing security violations in dealing with peaceful demonstrators. According to Al Jareeda website on Facebook, Al Nuhud commissioner issued a decree No. (7) 2019 relieving Sheikh Al Tayeb from his position as imam of the mosque, hours after he was summoned by security authorities on Saturday 16 February.

The decree contradicts Article 39/1 of the constitution which states: “Every citizen shall have an unrestricted right to the freedom of expression, reception and dissemination of information, publication, and access to the press without prejudice to order, safety or public morals as determined by law”.
