In “Tiba Press”, workshop consisting of journalists and specialist whom are related to the profession took place to discuss the role of the Journalist Association. During the workshop the participants worked on clarifying the definition for a journalist and their professional conduct. Also, the participants discussed the unionization of journalist and how the criteria for membership.

Journalist Faisal M. Salih stated that Journalist Association, whom operate as a union has no right to do so and all it’s role revolves around improving standards of the profession according to associations law of 2004.

This step comes in after a Sudanese revolution as a step for the journalist to take control of associations and unions that, according to them, have been controlled by the previous regime. The unionization process is a right ensured for journalist under the interim constitution of Sudan 2005.
