Merrikh fans prevented from hoisting placards supporting revolution
Eyewitnesses said on the day of a soccer match between Sudanese and Algerian football teams, played as part of UAE emir Zaid cup, security authorities have prevented fans from raising placards supporting popular protests. According to Alrakoba, security authorities took away all the placards calling for the overthrow of the regime.
Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states: “Everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice”. The Covenant is ratified by Sudan.
