The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) announced that President Omer Al Bashir is its candidate for 2020 elections. Meanwhile, the NCP Shura Council unanimously adopted in its sixth session the proposal to amend the party’s statute to clear the way for President Al Bashir to run for the Presidency in the upcoming elections.

According to Al Youm Al Sabie newspaper, President Al Bashir said during a meeting of the Shura Council that they are part of the government of national accord, “but the main responsibility of the National Congress Party also includes all issues facing the country”. “We must speak with transparency and honesty, “He added.
