Students of Medical Sciences go on strike, refuse to sit for examinations
Students of the University of Medial Sciences and Technology have refused to take their examinations scheduled to take place yesterday in protest at the deteriorating situation in the county.
A source told Al Jareeda that the students agreed not to take the examinations and to come to the University in the company of their guardians in order to carry out the sit-in. However, while some students absented themselves from the University, others took the examination for fear of dismissal, and some are in a worse psychological state because they feel bad they had taken the examinations in the absence of their colleagues.
The sources added that students were informed of the need to take the exam after one and a half hour excluding the decided half an hour time. Students were also surprised by location of examination centres, because the students of the faculty of engineering were asked to take the exam in Al Salam Rotana and Koral hotels, students of electricity engineering and pharmacy were placed in Mamoun Behairi hall and the rest of the students were placed in the University premises and the Academic Hospital, adding that the examinations are typically taken in the University and the Academic Hospital. According to sources, the students insisted on continuing the strike and refused to take the examinations unless the University Administration responds to their demands.
