Newspaper editor-in-chief summoned by the Public Prosecutor
The Public Prosecutor summoned the editor-in-chief of Al-Hadathah newspaper on Tuesday, over the publication of a statement that was issued by the Public Prosecutor regarding Egypt's lack of cooperation in extraditing wanted persons.
The letter, signed by the Director of the Executive Office of the Attorney General, instructed the Editor-in-Chief to present himself at the headquarters of the Public Prosecutor on Tuesday. Journalists described the measure as an attempt to intimidate and stifle the press , also referring to recent decisions by the government to close some electronic news websites.
