Sudan Prime Minister establishes National Mechanism for Human Rights

On the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamduk issued a decision establishing the National Human Rights Mechanism, pursuant to the provisions of the constitutional document for the transitional period of 2019.

The decision provided for the establishment and composition of the mechanism, which would be chaired and formed by the Minister of Justice, in addition to 18 members.

One of the most important tasks of the mechanism is to involve civil society actors in the field of human rights, to hold public consultations, substantive meetings or workshops, while ensuring that women, youth, persons with special needs, internally displaced persons, refugees and civil society are represented in the preparation of Sudan's periodic reports on human rights.
