Summoning and Interrogation of the Director of the Combating Violence Against Women Unit
The director of the Combating Violence against Women's Unit (a unit in the Ministry of Social Development) was interrogated by the the Prosecutor General of Crimes Against the State, on issues related to sexual violence against women during protests.
Sulaima Ishaq, head of the unit on Combatting Violence against Women' was questioned regarding information on sexual assualt against women which was reportedly provided by her and which appeared in a report to the Human Rights Council that was submitted by the head of the UNITAMS Mission, Volker Perthes. According to the article during her interrogation Ms. Sulaima Ishaq confirmed that at least 8 women were subjected to sexual vilence in the vicinity of the republican palace during recent protests.
