The Sudanese Teachers' Committee said that the security authorities carried out a number of arbitrary arrests of teachers for their participation in a strike that had begun earlier this week. The head of the Sudanese Teachers' Committee in Omdurman, west of Khartoum, and another teacher in West Darfur were arrested.
